The Plymouths are back! These old beasts haven’t lost the slightest of edge over the decades, and will be on display along with other beauties of the drag racing era at the 2018 edition of the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. For Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, this year is extra special, as it celebrates 50 glorious years of some of the best known dragsters, muscle cars, classics and even new brands. Of special note are the 1968 Dodge Dart, Dodge Super Bee, Dodge Charger, Plymouth Barracuda and the Plymouth Road Runner. The exhibition is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the famed Carlisle Fairgrounds between July 13-15, 2018 in what will be a mopar lover’s paradise.

The Plymouth Super Stock Barracuda featured on the ‘Legends of 1968’ T-shirt has a memorable history. This was one of the cars that Don Grotheer steered and galloped to victory at the 1969 NHRA Winternationals. A year back, Plymouth had taken 70 Barracudas and converted them for a new war, adorned with streaks of red, white and blue. The cars came to be known as the ‘A-bomb’ and are still seen racing in their own class today.

The legendary SS Barracuda features on the new T-shirt, so that visitors to the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals can walk into the exhibition with a new style, or bring home the old excitement with a wallpaper and mobile cover. The merchandise features five legendary Dodge and Plymouth cars that made history in 1968 – the 1968 models of SS Barracuda, Plymouth Roadrunner, Dodge Coronet/Superbee, Dodge Charger and the SS Dart.

Quarter Mile Addiction will not only make the Carlisle edition more special, but is looking forward to the other three big events of the year: the Mopar Nationals, Mopar Fest, and the NHRA US Nationals. Fans can visit the official website for more updates and new launches that will be happening soon.

The ‘Legends of 1968’ T-shirt and accessories are available in a limited edition from the official Quarter Mile Addiction online store. All merchandise is available with global shipping in 3-5 days, and urgent deliveries are available.

New Zealand bans most foreigners from buying homes

Aug 16, 2018

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — New Zealand has banned most foreigners from buying homes as it tries to tackle runaway housing prices. Previously the housing market was open to investors worldwide, but the government on Wednesday passed legislation that allows only New Zealand residents to buy homes. In recent years, there have been many anecdotal stories of wealthy foreigners from Silicon Valley and beyond buying ranches in picturesque rural New Zealand as a "bolt hole" or escape option from a turbulent world. There have also been stories of wealthy Chinese buyers outbidding New Zealanders on suburban homes in the main city...

Aug 16, 2018

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Latest on Brexit negotiations (all times local): 5:15 p.m. German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she hopes to avoid a disorderly British departure from the European Union but there's a lot of work to be done in the coming months. Britain is set to leave the EU in late March. British officials recently have talked up the risks of the country departing without a withdrawal deal, calling for more flexibility from the bloc. Merkel said in the eastern German city of Jena Tuesday: "hopefully there won't be a disorderly Brexit, but a sensible negotiated solution." She said...

To fend off Netflix, movie theaters try 3-screen immersion

Aug 16, 2018

LONDON — Sit at the back of the movie theater, and it's possible to see the appeal of ScreenX, the latest attempt to drag film lovers off the sofa and away from Netflix. Instead of one screen, there are three - one at the front, and two on the sides - to add to the immersive experience you can't get from the home TV. First adopted in South Korea in 2012, the system is being launched in the U.K. and theater chain Cineworld plans to add over 100 new screens to the worldwide count of 151. The technology is the...

Soccer activist says political rhetoric stirs racist chants

Aug 16, 2018

LONDON — So much still frustrates the man at the forefront of eradicating discrimination from English soccer. While teams are more diverse, there remains a distinct lack of black and ethnic minority coaches and executives in positions of power. The atmosphere at matches is not as toxic as 25 years ago, when Herman Ouseley laid the foundations for the Kick It Out organization, but abuse targeting players is increasingly moving from the stands to the anonymity of the internet. And as a member of the House of Lords, the 73-year-old Ouseley is particularly wary of how outbursts from politicians can...

Sports Direct snaps up ailing UK retailer House of Fraser

Aug 16, 2018

LONDON — British retailer Sports Direct said Friday that it has bought struggling department store chain House of Fraser after the 169-year-old business went into administration. In an announcement to the London Stock Exchange, Sports Direct said it has acquired House of Fraser's British stores, the brand and all of the stock in the business for 90 million pounds ($115 million). The news came hours after House of Fraser said it was calling in administrators after discussions between investors and creditors failed to offer a "solvent solution." The decision put 17,000 jobs at risk. Financial firm EY had been expected...
